Sweet home Chicago

We've lived in Chicago since 1999, which is longer than we've lived in any one place as a family. But it's not felt natural to call Chicago "home." I see myself described variously as a "Southwest writer," "a San Diego  native," "a writer with deep Colorado ties," "Tucson's own," "a border writer," etc. But I have rarely been described as a Midwestern writer or a Chicago author.

La Gira, Parte Dos*

*Book Tour, Part Two

After a small breather so we could enjoy Christmas with our kids, the Queen resumes her march today.

Book Tour is back on! Part Two commences with tonight's wonderful event with Elizabeth Taylor at the Chicago Tribune Tower. I know Obama's in town, but I'm excited to be able to talk with Miss Elizabeth about Queen and the writing life. I will probably bust out some reading/performance. Hope to see you there. Details are below in my events section.

The Sultan of Swing

Yo, My Peeps--I told you I've been out and about, or as my dear Canadian pals say, oot and aboot. So I did this gig at SMU in Dallas. I think it was good, but I'm always in a daze at these events. I also told you I was going to add audio to the blog. Uh, that's hard for a luddite/troglodite like me. But I CAN give you a big juicy link to my SMU podcast.

I cannot verify if this is worth your tuning in, but at Radio Hummingbird, the Hits Just Keep On Comin'!

Book club members have been some of my most enthusiastic and careful readers. I’m thrilled to share my work with you, answer your questions and tell you some of the stories behind the stories. This is our spot, just for us. Here, we can chat:  If I’m nearby, I’ll come and visit your club. Otherwise, we can Skype, talk over the phone or email. Sometimes, I’ll send surprises or hold contests.
